Functionalities as individual as your cases
Craniomaxillofacial surgery planning is complex. With every case presenting unique challenges, you need tools that offer unique functionalities. Brainlab Craniomaxillofacial Planning software automates the steps that can slow you down while enriching patient data in new ways to help you make informed decisions. You can plan swiftly and intuitively, no matter how complex the case.
Take your plan a step further by adding mixed reality viewing, navigation1 and robotic intraoperative imaging to achieve your ideal outcomes for mid-facial reconstructions and tumor resections.
Automation at every step
We’ve built automation into every step of the planning workflow including data alignment, image fusion, object outlining, segmentation and mirroring as well as implant positioning. Save time while still thoroughly preparing for the procedure.
Customize your planning with Brainlab Elements
Brainlab Elements are software applications designed to automate and simplify planning and case preparation. Completely customizable, you can choose which Elements fit your reconstruction needs, from interactive data review to atlas-based segmentation and mirroring of structures to vendor-neutral import of binary STL files. Add the functionalities that will help you most, since these applications all fit seamlessly into your existing workflows.
Easily align patient images
In CMF planning, correct alignment of the dataset is the first critical step. With Elements Viewer, imported DICOM data, such as MR, CT or cone beam CT scans, can be viewed in axial, coronal, sagittal or 3D and automatically aligned according to symmetry planes for simple comparison of both sides in one view.
Contour on any dataset
Fully automated and highly accurate image fusion of multiple image modalities with Elements Image Fusion brings your plan together for indispensable definition and flexible contouring on any dataset. During surgery, intraoperatively acquired images can be fused with pre-planned data to verify the position of implants or repositioned bone fragments.
Define volumes on just two slices
Elements SmartBrush supports your planning with quick and interactive outlining of tumors and other relevant structures incorporating multiple modalities. Delineate the object on just two slices and its volume is automatically generated. For consistent tumor monitoring, auto-generated volumetric reports can be created.
Save time with automatic segmentation
Easily incorporate relevant craniofacial structures into your plan with fully automated, atlas-based anatomical segmentation. Split or merge objects or include safety margins to fit your reconstruction needs. For outlining specific anatomical areas, such as bony structures after trauma, a region of interest can be defined in various forms, including a sphere or ellipsoid, and segmented according to user-defined Hounsfield values.
Mirror structures to the affected side
Unilateral defects allow for the utilization of templates from the healthy side. Choose segmented objects with Elements Object Manipulation and mirror them to the affected side. Mirrored structures can be easily manipulated and positioned according to existing anatomical structures of the defected side.
Flexibly exchange STL data
Make the most of your mirrored structures and export them as a template for the manufacturing of implants or rapid prototyping models. Finalize your surgical preparation by integrating standard or customized implants into your plan. Imported structures in binary STL-file format can be automatically positioned at the region of interest with volume or surface match.
